levels()v4.0.508
Part of the @remotion/effects package.
Adjusts input black and white points, midtone gamma, and the output range for all RGB channels or one color channel.
Input and output points use a range from 0 to 1. To convert a value from an editor that uses 0 to 255, divide it by 255.

Example
MyComp.tsximport {Video } from '@remotion/media'; import {levels } from '@remotion/effects/levels'; export constMyComp :React .FC = () => { return ( <Video src ="https://remotion.media/video.mp4"effects ={[levels ({blackPoint : 0.05,whitePoint : 0.95,gamma : 1.2,outputBlack : 0.02,outputWhite : 0.98, }), ]} /> ); };
Adjusting individual channelsv4.0.537
Use channel to adjust only red, green, or blue. Stack multiple levels() effects to combine an RGB adjustment with individual channel adjustments. Effects are applied in array order.
MyComp.tsximport {Video } from '@remotion/media'; import {levels } from '@remotion/effects/levels'; export constMyComp :React .FC = () => { return ( <Video src ="https://remotion.media/video.mp4"effects ={[levels ({blackPoint : 0.05,whitePoint : 0.95}),levels ({channel : 'red',gamma : 1.1}),levels ({channel : 'blue',outputWhite : 0.9}), ]} /> ); };
Editing in Studiov4.0.537
The Levels panel shows a live input histogram and graphical handles for the input points, gamma, and output points. The numeric fields can also be keyframed.
API
You can call levels() without arguments or pass an object with the following properties.
blackPoint?
The input value mapped to outputBlack, from 0 to 1. Values below it are clipped to outputBlack. Defaults to 0.
The black point must be less than the white point. Moving the points close together produces a steep tonal stretch.
whitePoint?
The input value mapped to outputWhite, from 0 to 1. Values above it are clipped to outputWhite. Defaults to 1.
The white point must be greater than the black point.
gamma?
The midtone gamma from 0.01 to 10. Values below 1 darken midtones and values above 1 brighten them. Defaults to 1.
outputBlack?v4.0.537
The output value for the input black point, from 0 to 1. Defaults to 0. Increase it to lift the darkest values.
outputWhite?v4.0.537
The output value for the input white point, from 0 to 1. Defaults to 1. Decrease it to dim the brightest values.
Unlike the input points, the output points can be equal or reversed. For example, outputBlack: 1 and outputWhite: 0 invert the adjusted channel values.
channel?v4.0.537
The color channels to adjust: 'rgb', 'red', 'green', or 'blue'. Defaults to 'rgb', which applies the same adjustment to all three channels. Alpha is preserved.
disabled?
When true, the effect is skipped. Defaults to false.
